Red Tip Paradise Cocoplum Bush (chrysobalanus icaco)

Your new fruiting hedge! A true Florida Native, Coco Plum loves creeping around sandy beaches and soils but can also be found growing to 30 feet or more at inland locations. Flowers are small, white and appear in clusters all over the plant, around the beginning of spring and develop into thin skinned edible fruits. The fruit and kernel can be consumed raw or cooked and the fruit is often transformed into excellent jelly, jam and syrup. Fun fact; the seed is about 21% oil by weight and can be strung on sticks and burned for a light. The oil can also be used to make candles and soap. How cool is that?! Evergreen leaves are round, shiny green and sprout with a pink tint. Foliage densely cover this small tree with a symmetrical shape and nice rounded crown. This is a must for any edible tropical garden.
