Himalayan Red Tiger Plant (agapetes serpens)

A graceful low growing shrub of up to 3 feet tall with narrow, arching stems and crowded leaves produces brightly colored reddish orange urn shaped flowers with v shaped darker red markings. Almost 1 inch long, the little hanging jewel like flowers are produced in profusion all along the branch from the tip of the stem back to the start of last year’s new growth. An epiphyte by nature this plant oddly enough forms a caudex when planted in shallow soil making it an unusual Bonsai volunteer.
